The meeting was called to order at 7:20pm, December 11, at the American Legion Hall, in Liverpool by Central New York Region Regional Executive Scott Newton. Some 14 people were on hand.
Scott told us about the passing of a local, long time Porsche afficianado, Jim Ball. Jim was especially active in the 60s and 70s, and was from the Cortland area. (Secretary pro-tem note: Jim introduced me to hillclimbing, the Mt. Ascutney hillclimb in Vermont, in 1969.)
Scott, and some others, talked briefly about a couple of possible autocross sites, out back at the Green Hills Shopping Center in Nedrow, and a spot tied to Hancock airport. More research is needed.
Assistant Regional Executive Ed Leubner had no report.
Secretary Bob Holcomb is in Florida for a bunch of race flagging over the next few months, and a little vacationing along the way. Secretary pro-tem Jon Coffin asked for a motion to accept the minutes of previous meetings, as posted on our Region website; offered by Lee Hidy, seconded by Mick Levy, and passed.
SOLO Chair Mark Bizzozero was reported to be at home with his daughter who was a little under the weather. Progress is being made on the 2013 season SOLO trophies for the awards banquet.
James Quattro gave a rallycross report; there was an event at Walczyk's farm December 7, with eight participants, who each got in eight runs, by 8pm, and fun was had by all. This was James' last report as he has now handed over the Region Rallycross responsibilities to Josh Glassberg, from Utica. Josh was at the meeting and said hi. There are Rallycrosses planned for January 5 at Walczyk's farm in Weedsport, and at Judge Joe Field in Utica on February 2.
Treasurer Jay Cartini noted some paid bills, and assured us we have some, or at least a little bit of, money.
Activities guru Rob Sgarlata detailed the Annual Banquet Sunday, January 26, 3-6pm at Borio's on Oneida Lake. (See the flyer in the December Snarling posted on the Club website.)
Mick Levy pointed out there had not been much Flagging activity in the area just lately.
In old business, Mike Gagliardi told us some work is continuing on site at Central New York Raceway Park, and that final permitting is hoped for in early spring. A final Town of Hastings public hearing on the environmental impact statement is expected soon. (Note, that meeting has been called for on January 7, 2014.)
Scott said we will have a display at the Syracuse Auto Expo at the Oncenter in Syracuse February 6-9, if there is (free) space made available to us.
Scott reported the position of Editor of the Snarling Exhaust was available. Dustin Ehrlich can continue to do it, but would hand over the duties readily to a volunteer. (The latest Snarling appeared just a few days after this meeting.)
The 50/50 was won by Lee Hidy, and it was worth $10 to him.
And, at 8:10pm, on a motion by Lee Hidy, seconded by Mike Donofrio, the meeting was adjourned.
Minutes respectfully submitted by Secretary pro-tem Jon Coffin.
